Canada VS Finland
Canada Wins 3 – 2!
Thank goodness our cable got hooked up today. This could be the last time in quite a while we see hockey like this here in North America as it looks like the NHL is set to lock out the players tomorrow sometime.
The game has been extremely back and forth after the first period with the score tied 1 – 1. I’m really hoping to see Brad Richards (Hometown PEI boy!) put in a good performance, and hopefully we’ll see Canada pull out a gold medal. The World Cup of Hockey is always an excellent tournament, I just wish I had been able to catch a few more of the games as I may go into hockey withdrawal this winter if indeed this lockout goes through.
The NHL lockout is a whole other matter, which I may touch on in a few days once a decision is reached.
Update #1: Scott Neidermayer has just scored for Canada to make the score 2 – 1 for Canada.
Update #2: Finland scored a late second period goal to make the score 2 – 2.
Update #3: Shane Doan scored a goal early in the third for Canada to make the score 3 – 2 for Canada.
Update #4: Final score 3 – 2 for Canada. Canada is once again World Hockey Champions! Vincent Lecavalier was named tournament MVP.
