NHL Locks Out Players

Well, what every hockey fan has feared has come to pass. Gary Bettman announced this afternoon that the NHL has locked out its players until an agreement can be reached between the NHL and the NHLPA regarding the economic issues that have been on the table for the last few months.
It’s really sad to see the sport come to this point. Personally, after the ‘94-‘95 lockout, I’d hoped that we wouldn’t have to see this again for a long while. If the owners and the NHL had used a little foresight back when the talks were going on in ‘94-‘95, they wouldn’t be in this mess right now. I do agree that NHL players make a scandalous amount of money, more than any person is worth really, but I also feel that the owners are being a little greedy as well.
It doesn’t look like we’re going to be seeing a quick end to this dispute either, both sides seem to be behaving very childishly over the issues at hand and can’t seem to even sit down and discuss. It’s absolutely ridiculous, maybe both sides need to lose a little bit of money because of this lockout and they’ll finally both see that they weren’t in that bad of a situation after all. That’s just my two cents…
