To Skate, Or Not To Skate

Over the past week, I’ve received an insane number of emails from people asking me where they can buy one of my skateboards. I haven’t actually had any of my designs printed since I started dabbling in skateboard design, but this steady flow of emails has got me seriously considering start to have some of them printed up.

Skate Or Die

Skateboarding seems to be still going extremely strong and isn’t showing any signs of slowing up. I think that there is definitely potential in the market for my board designs to be (at the risk of sounding a bit egotistical) a big hit. So the question is: If I do a run of boards (1 design) would there be demand enough from the people out there that I wouldn’t end up with a ton of extra boards kicking around my house? Also, if I do get a bunch printed, which design is the most popular amongst those that I’ve published?

I’d really appreciate as much feedback as possible from those that visit this site, especially those of you that are arriving here after checking out my board designs, or those that Google has directed here. If you have any questions you’d like answered privately, please don’t hesitate to use the contact form for this site, or over at Jeff Smith Designs, or even send a good ol’ fashioned email to skate@jeffsmithdesigns.com.

FYI: All of my board designs are located here.

This is a good opportunity. If you have a growing demand, best thing to do is to take some pre-orders, get a deposit then get them done and send out. Thatâ??s the best way to go without stocking on extra boards. When it picks up, start stocking up and streamline the process.

Unless you try it, you will never know how successful it can get.

I agree with Pawel here Jeff. Get some pre-orders before you actually throw down for the decks themselves and see how it goes from there. Stickers would also be a nice idea as well, kinda like a throw in for the people that order from you. You may be on to a whole new market here Jeff. Very cool stuff.

I’m really planning on giving it a shot, but there is a lot of planning to be done before it gets off the ground. I’ve got a lot of legwork and research to get done!
