Google Acquires Measuremap

Measuremap will be a great compliment to a service like Blogger. It’ll be exciting to see where the project goes now that there is a dedicated team working full time on it.

Congrats to Jeffrey Veen and the rest of the crew at Adaptive Path.

I must say that surprised me. Didn't even wait for it to come out of alpha. Maybe they were trying to beat Yahoo to the purchase. ;)

Wonder what this means for analytics?

I don't think it will mean much of a change for Google Analytics.

In my opinion, the two reach different audiences. Analytics is more for people like you and me that really want to dig deep into their stats and view detailed information. Measuremap is much more high level. It appeals much more to those that just want to see who is visiting their site, from where, and not much more.

Maybe they were trying to beat out Yahoo :). However, Yahoo seems to wait for companies to mature a little more before they snap them up.
